Remember When.

It didn't dawn on me until yesterday that in only three weeks, I'll be at Coachella again with some of my closest friends! I still cannot fathom the fact that it's already been months since I purchased my pass. Thankfully, it means I've been distracted enough to stray myself from being too anxious about it. Crazy. I can't wait to discover what kind of shenanigans we'll be up to this time around. While I'm not enthused about the ridiculous heat, everything else about the experience should make up for that. After all, the line up is nothing short of fantastic and the company is the best. However, I really need to start preparing outfits and other supplies. Only three weeks left? Yowza.

all photos taken by my friend Hanna

Above are photos from last year. Every bruise on my body, all the dirt all over my skin, and the terrible, uneven tan I came home with was - if you can believe it - worth it. I had so much fun with Hanna, Lucky, and Howard in spite of all the exhaustion and insanity. We pushed our way through the colossal crowd for The Black Keys; danced to a number of deejays I can't remember the names of anymore; lost each too many times other due to dead phones; partook in unmentionable, traditional festival activities; so on and so forth. I could keep going. Definitely an experience, if you ask me. I'm itching to find out what this year brings.

Bright Young Thing.

shirt: thrift find, shorts: thrift find, belt: thrift find, shoes: thrift find, sunglasses: Forever 21

I'm not actually sure if I've ever worn anything so loud with color. My outfits are normally quite mute, but I don't think it's purposely so, since I just throw pieces together ninety-nine percent of the time. And while the photograph captured an incredibly bright yellow, the shirt is actually more mustard than displayed. It's the sun's doing, I swear. That said though, I'm a big fan of mustard. I think it's a shade that's a delight to play with, so I threw in a pair of high waisted plaid shorts to balance the heavy solid with a simple print. The belt buckle just so happened to add a fun little detail without being distracting. I'm also really pleased to mention that this entire outfit cost less than a mere twenty dollars. The thrills of being cheap, I tell ya.

Spring Awakening.

Spring break has been a hoot and a half. Staying up all night, sleeping until late in the afternoon. Uninterrupted naps. Eating breakfast for lunch and dinner and in between and after. Cuddles with the sweetest puppy. Trips to Disneyland. Learning how to bake brownies. Bike rides. Iced chai tea. The Hunger Games midnight premiere with some of my favorite pals. Reorganizing my books, vinyls, movies, and magazines. Ignoring to-do lists. Flowers coming out of hiding. Trying new things. Conquering my fears through laughter. Screaming our heads off. Embarrassing ourselves, and shamelessly so. A quick stop to our favorite thrift store. Dinner parties. Above are photos of a few memories that I've collected throughout the week. I'm not quite thrilled about it coming to an end, but I am doubtlessly looking forward to finally graduating in May. Many adventures will surely roll on from there. I really, really, really cannot wait.

Fly Me to the Moon.

In lieu of the season premiere for my favorite show, Mad Men, I decided to hold a teeny tiny celebration at my place. My sweet mom made such delicious meals, with recipes all taken from the official Mad Men party guide. With the company of Sam and a few of her friends, Abbie, Joleigh, and I feasted on dinner as the show went on. I'm so happy it's back; it has been entirely too long! Surely, more dinner parties shall be had as the season continues. Spending time with my darlings is just too much fun. I have the greatest friends (and family), I really do.

Yellow Light.

Unfortunately, I somehow managed to catch a slight cold some time within the past few days. But no matter how off I feel spending time with my best friends never ever fails to do the trick. This time, we decided to take a whack at cooking dinner together. We made a quick trip to the nearby grocery store to gather our ingredients: couscous and vegetables for the main dish; lemonade, lime, and mint for refreshments; and Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Caramel Fudge for dessert. When it comes to cooking, I'm a total rookie, so I definitely learned quite a bit. The final results came out deliciously, and we were all very pleased. I mean, we did have multiple servings of the couscous salad, so that certainly says something. I can't wait for more cooking dates with my ladies. I'm finally trying to not be so inept in the kitchen, so this was a great and fun start. Also, how precious are Kaity's little brothers? They're such sweethearts.

On a separate note, I have an abundance of photos from the past week that are simply waiting to be shared. The more they continue to pile up, the more I'm intimated by said pile... So I really have to sort through those. Spring Break is nearly over and needless to say, I'm quite saddened by it. However, I do still have a few things to look forward to before it concludes: today, I'm having a Mad Men party with a few friends in celebration for the new season; and tomorrow is another day off, which means I'll be using it to either do absolutely nothing or do everything that I should have done in the past week. We'll see...
