Who knew my own words could spark a fire in me again? It’s a strange, yet really wonderful feeling. I just finished reading back to some short stories I had written almost exactly a year ago, and I have to say, I’m surprisingly impressed.
I am my own worst critic; I resent reading back to my own words because I always find it so hard to be positive about it. I am ridiculously critical of myself, of the things I write, of almost every little thing I do or work on. I always find things to nitpick. I know, it’s terrible.. But it’s something I’m working on. I think this is mostly because of the fact that I just want to keep getting better all the time. Good isn’t good enough. Good enough isn’t good enough. This is the mindset I constantly find myself in. I just need to find a healthy, constructive balance.
Personally, I’ve been in a creative rut for the past year. I just started writing less and less (because of personal issues) and ever since then, I’ve been quiescent and I honestly abhor it. So, I’ve been taking baby steps on getting back on track. Change or doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a process. So is improvement. And that’s my goal. To start writing again, have more pride in my own work and words, and always aim for improvement, but not to be too hard on myself.
Well. Like I said, it’s a process.
I took some pills earlier tonight to cure a terrible headache and I think they’re the cause of my current drowsiness. I don’t think I’m really all that tired, especially since I did nothing the whole day.. My eyes just feel ridiculously droopy. And so, it’s off to bed I go. I might just watch Brink on Disney Channel with Sammy until I’m tired enough to finally pass out.
On a side note: I love Kaity. She’s a lovely friend to have and is so adorable. I also love how we communicate through Tumblr’s handy “Messages”. I can’t wait for our upcoming adventures! Weee.
Oh my god. My cousin is totally one of those “TWIMOMS”, but in the most endearing and amusing way ever. It’s actually hilarious watching them in action. I know I’m talking about them like they’re some sort of separate species, but honestly, they might as well be. I’m not hating, though. I mean, I really dislike the whole Twilight phenomenon, but my cousin is too lovely and way too funny. And, I also think Robert Pattinson is a total dreamboat. My cousin would agree - his picture is her default on Facebook. God, I love her. I love having wacky relatives.
In no particular order, here’s a list of things I’d like (or need?) to do before summer comes to an end:
I could really keep going with this.. But for now, that’s all I’ve got. Here’s to the rest of summer!
I finished summer school earlier this week and boy, am I relieved to get that over with or what! Finally, I’ve gotten closure from the past year and while it’s taken this long to arrive, I’m just grateful it came at all. I don’t think I can express that enough. I practically skipped all the way home the other day when my dad couldn’t give me a ride home from my last day at summer school. Considering the fact that I even lost 40 dollars from my pocket that same morning, I was in a mighty fantastic mood. I’m really glad to be moving on and have all of that behind me. It feels really good, especially since I can actually focus on other things and have much less to stress about now. Thank goodness.

I took this on the way to Vegas. We left at around 5:30 in the morning and about thirty minutes into the trip, the sun was already up and at ‘em. I’m not at all a morning person, so it really didn’t make me feel any less cranky than I already was. At least a few decent pictures came out of it, I suppose!
I used three rolls of film during the trip, but I haven’t been able to run and get them printed out yet. So in the meantime, I uploaded a few to my Flickr page to share with everyone. Take a look if you’d like!
I’m going to be in Las Vegas for three days; the family and I will be leaving tomorrow, and will be back on Wednesday night. I’m not at all fond of heat (or the sun at all, for that matter), but I’m very much looking forward to getting away, even just for a few days. I honestly can’t even recall the last time I was in Vegas.. It’s really been a while. Hopefully I don’t melt from the obnoxious heat. Bleh.
Anyway, blogging will resume in three days. Not that I blog regularly to begin with, but.. See you then, internet!

Last year, I was able to go and watch the Pride Parade in NYC with my aunt and little sister. While not a lot of people seemed to realize who he was, I was freaking out in excitement because I easily recognized that handsome fellow in the picture up there. I mean, he did write the screenplay for one of my favorite films from 2008, Milk. I’m a fan. While Dustin Lance Black was working his Grand Marshal duties and waving to the people watching, I (naturally) waved back excitedly like the dork I am. I was wearing my American Apparel “Legalize Gay” shirt and it seemed to catch his eye because he yelled out to me and said he liked it. Yeah, I totally swooned. And let myself forget the fact that the man is gay and even had a sex tape leak. Still gorgeous and talented!
Today’s treats! I finally got my hands on two of my favorite albums of the year thus far: Yeasayer’s Odd Blood and Broken Bells’ self-titled on vinyl. Both for just twenty bucks. I’m really satisfied! Tomorrow, I’ll be returning to get Spoon’s Transference. I really love buying records and watching my collection grow slowly, but surely.
Sam, our dad, and I were at Disneyland and California Adventure at two days ago. We got annual passes, meaning I have a reason to go at least once a week now. Suh-weeet deal. I love it there so much.
Oh, and that picture of us was taken while in line for my favorite ride, Space Mountain! Kobe Bryant was also at the park on the same day, though we unfortunately didn’t run into him. Would have been cool had that happened!
That glare is hideous, but this Pentax is what I’ll bringing with me tomorrow at Disneyland. I’ve never used it, but I’m excited to change that. It was tucked away in my mini suitcase under my bed, which contains my “collection” of film cameras. There are plenty of rolls I still need to get developed, and hopefully once I get a working scanner/printer again, I’ll be able to upload and share those with everyone. It really has been a while since I’ve taken a decent photo, though.
